Nancy Varipapa is a contemporary impressionist who draws her inspiration from the early 20th Century California artists. Through the use of the understated--thick paint and bold color--she captures the essence of light and shadow. Though each painting reflects only a fleeting moment in time, the viewer is somehow left with the sense of an untold story.

Nancy retired from her job as a critical care nurse to help her husband establish his career and  to raise their three children. As the demands of her home life diminished she was able to return to her passion, her art. Nancy has studied for the last five years with internationally recognized  Robert VanderZee in his Alexandria, Virginia studio. Nancy has also taken many workshops, some with such notables as Larry Horowitz and Tim Bell.

Nancy was born in Germany, lived in England, worked for over ten years in Baltimore, Maryland and then moved with her husband to Dover, Delaware. When the Varipapa children moved to Virginia to attend boarding school she followed and has remained since! Currently, Nancy calls both Virginia and Delaware home.
